Launched in March 2016, this Big Lottery Funded project was part of a wider initiative called ‘Our Brighter Future’. Â The ‘Our Brighter Future’ project targets young people living in YMCA Housing Schemes, Supported Lodgings and/or attending YMCA Youth Groups. Â
OASES was employed to deliver the project to YMCA North Tyneside in 2016/17. Â OASES enabled the group to develop an allotment plot and plant an orchard within a near by community allotment. The group also took part in outdoor cooking and organised a celebration event where they pressed their own apple juice.
The project brought together partners from both the environmental and young people’s sectors to work together to develop community orchards. Â The partnership board consisted of:

- YMCA
- International Tree Foundation (ITF)
- The Urban Orchardas Project (UOP)
