Seahouses Primary chose OASES to support them with their outdoor learning focused creative enquiry, funded by Creativity, Culture and Education. Hannah from OASES worked with the teachers to look at their curriculum planning and identify areas where they could use the outdoors to support and enhance the children’s learning, with a particular focus on the science curriculum. To allow the teachers to see the benefits of taking learning outdoors, and to develop their skills and confidence in doing so, Hannah modelled the outdoor learning approach with all the classes across the school, delivering science lessons in a variety of different local outdoor areas. For example, Year 3/4 learnt about rock formation by measuring out a history of Earth timeline in their school grounds and then visiting their local coastline to look at and identify the different layers of rocks, learn about how they were formed and hunt for fossils.
