A school garden is a valuable resource for helping children and youth to engage practically with the world around them, to connect with nature and to get active. It can be used to deliver the curriculum, to aid social and emotional development and to encourage healthy eating. Through the Get Growing program, OASES can assist your school with all of your school gardening needs. We can support you to design, install or expand a school garden, to revive a neglected garden space, or to realise the potential of your existing garden through pupil sessions, practical teacher training and/or curricular support.
OASES has been assisting County Durham schools with their gardens for over twenty-five years. Our project officers have deep experience in horticulture, primary and secondary teaching, and school garden design, including accreditations through Learning Through Landscapes and the Royal Horticultural Society.
