School Garden Support for Witton Gilbert Primary School
In the 2021-22 school year, Witton Gilbert Primary School hired OASES to support them to maximise the impact of their new garden area on pupil learning schoolwide. To this end, OASES delivered a plan in three parts: An OASES educator delivered twilight sessions to all staff on how to use the garden to support teaching across the curriculum. OASES experts provided consultation on garden planning, design, and maintenance. And an OASES officer delivered a season of gardening sessions to all year groups, engaging all pupils in the process whilst modelling best practise in outdoor instruction for the staff.
“All children have been engaged and have developed a wider knowledge of not only growing veg but seeing it through to the end product and tasting it.
(The best part was) being guided by experience and being able to see how it’s done.”
