Nurdle Clean Up: Save Our Beaches

On 19 July, 25 tonnes of plastic nurdles were spilled into the River Tyne. Since then, these small plastic pellets have been washing up on beaches across the North East, threatening marine wildlife and coastal habitats.

Join OASES on a hands-on conservation visit where pupils can help remove nurdles from local beaches while learning about plastic pollution and its impact on marine ecosystems.

This engaging environmental action session gives young people the opportunity to contribute to a real conservation effort while developing an understanding of sustainability, pollution, and environmental responsibility.

What pupils will learn

• What nurdles are and how they entered the marine environment
• How plastic pollution affects wildlife and ecosystems
• The importance of environmental stewardship
• Practical conservation and data collection skills
• How individuals and communities can take action to protect natural spaces
