This NOCN Level 3 accredited Forest Bathing course will give you all the skills you need to lead sessions in the Japanese approach of Shinrin Yoku.

This is an approved use of Schools’ PE and Sports Premium

Become a Forest Bathing Leader and safely lead Forest Bathing Programmes. Forest Bathing uses sensory experiences in the natural environment to encourage relaxation, wellbeing and promote mental health. The learner bathes in the calming atmosphere of the trees and plants- no water required!

This ground breaking training uses the Japanese approach and adapts it to suit your own group.

These courses are appropriate for those working with children or adults; such as teachers, teaching assistants, EYFS practitioners, health workers, environmental and recreation staff interested in the Forest Bathing approach. You must be 18 years or over to complete the course.

What does it involve?

  • 6 days of training
  • You will plan and deliver 6 sessions with your own group. (Please note, if you are working independently of a school or organisation, you will need to source a group and insurance for these sessions.)
  • You will complete a portfolio of evidence and reflection alongside the course.
  • You will learn how to lead a group safely, light a fire and manage a group around a fire.
  • You will try out a wide range of inspirational activities.
  • You will gain knowledge of woodland health and safety and the woodland environment.

6 Day Course

Timings: Full days are 10am-3pm in followed by 1 hour each day of self study
Venues: To gain a range of experiences, venues will be a mixture of Esh Winning Academy, Ushaw Historic House and Hamsterley Forest.

We recommend that you also complete an Outdoor / Paediatric First Aid qualification, a safeguarding course and a food hygiene course.
