Champions for Wind

OASES collaborated with several schools in County Durham, Tees Valley, North Yorkshire, and Humberside through the Champions for Wind initiative. This program was developed in partnership with Forewind, the organization behind the world’s largest offshore wind farm at Dogger Bank, located between 77 and 180 miles offshore.

The initiative aimed to enhance professional skills and curriculum development, offering context-led sessions to students. These sessions engaged students with the offshore wind industry, related careers, and ongoing environmental research. A significant aspect of the project was providing teachers with opportunities to enhance their professional expertise. The planned school interventions focused on innovation and fostering outstanding teaching practices, supported by a network of ‘Champions’ that encouraged cross-region collaboration.
