Plastic Pollution and Beach Litter Pick

Plastic pollution is a growing problem for our beaches and oceans. Litter left on land can be carried by wind, rain and rivers into the sea, where it can harm wildlife and remain in the environment for many years.

Join OASES for a hands-on beach litter pick where pupils can help remove plastic and other litter from the beach while learning about where our waste comes from and what happens when it enters the marine environment.

This engaging environmental action session gives young people the opportunity to make a real difference to their local beach while developing an understanding of plastic pollution, responsible waste management and how everyday choices can affect the environment.

What pupils will learn

• What plastic pollution is and where beach litter comes from
• How litter can travel from land into the sea
• How plastic and other waste can affect wildlife and marine environments
• How to identify and safely collect different types of litter
